amend 4.2.5 – What’s new
Fast typing again on lower-end phones, a step counter that no longer adds steps you didn't walk, smoother scrolling, and new Lite animations for speed and battery.
Version: 4.2.5 · Released: 7 November 2026 · Available on: Google Play (closed testing)
A small update that makes amend smoother on every phone, especially on lower-end and older ones. Some testers told us typing felt slow and the step counter jumped after the last update. Both are fixed. We recommend everyone updates.
Fixed
- ⌨️ Typing is fast again – On some phones the keyboard lagged in chats, because amend redrew the whole chat with every letter you typed. Now only the message box updates while you type, so letters appear the moment you press them, even in long chats.
- 🚶 Steps you didn’t walk – Some phones’ step sensors briefly report zero. amend took that for a phone restart and counted all your earlier steps again, so the day suddenly showed thousands of extra steps. amend now checks whether the phone really restarted, so these glitches are ignored, and real restarts are still counted correctly.
New
- 🍃 Lite animations – amend’s living sky, floating particles and other moving backgrounds are lovely, but on phones with less memory they take power away from the keyboard and scrolling. With Settings → Appearance → Lite animations turned on, the background stays still, amend doesn’t ask the screen for its highest refresh rate, and your battery lasts longer. Light and dark themes stay as you chose. It’s on by default on phones with about 3 GB of memory or less, and you can switch it on or off any time.
Improved
- Smoother scrolling – Chats and the chat list no longer work out links and message times again every time they scroll past, so scrolling is lighter.
- Less memory for profile pictures – amend now keeps fewer pictures in memory on phones that have less of it, which leaves more room for everything else.
